[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A REDCAR Accountant is signing off after more than 40 years at one of the largest Accountancy practices in the town.
Chartered Accountant Rod Johnson, 74, will be retiring on 31st October after 41 years at Proudler Hiser & Co in Redcar.
Rod first came to the practice in 1976, when it was known as George C Wilkinson & Co, and was promoted to Partner after just 10 months at the firm.
Originally from Hull, Rod has worked with more than 500 clients during his time at Proudler Hiser & Co and for the past 20 years has been the sole Chartered Accountant at the firm.
Rod said: “I really didn’t expect to be working at 74 so I’m looking forward to my retirement. I’ll be hopefully spending more time with my family and acting as the Honorary Treasurer of Redcar Rugby Union Football Club.
“I will really miss the clients I’ve worked with over the years and I’m very proud to call many of them my personal friends, I would like to thank all the clients I’ve worked with for making my 40 years in Redcar so enjoyable.”
The firm, thought to be one of the oldest in Redcar, will continue in Rod’s absence and has been merged with the Bailey Group, a North-East Accountancy and Tax Advisory firm with practices in Peterlee, Sedgefield, Gateshead and Consett. The Bailey Group is headed up by CEO Chris Bailey.
Rod said: “Although I am sad to leave the firm, I am happy that it will continue as part of the Bailey Group. I’ve had a lot of offers over the years, but when Chris Bailey approached me, I was very impressed by his attitude and thought he would be able to provide an excellent service for clients, as well as a wealth of experience.”
The day-to-day management of Proudler Hiser & Co will be handled by Practice Manager, Adam Dorgan who has been at the practice since May.
Adam said: “I would like to wish Rod a fantastic retirement, after more than 40 years at the firm he absolutely deserves it.
“We’re looking forward to a really exciting time at the practice, and as a large firm with five practices including Redcar, we have a lot of experience to offer and we hope that clients will pop in and see us to see how we can help them.”
Chris Bailey said: “On behalf of everyone at the Bailey Group, I’d like to wish Rod a very happy retirement.
“We are really pleased we can continue to offer the people of Redcar a great Accountancy service, and hopefully with Adam at the helm we can look forward to another 40 years in Redcar!”
