Payroll Clerk

Permanent position

Hours: 37.5 per week

Salary: Negotiated on experience

A new opportunity has arisen at Bailey Group Chartered Accountants. We are looking for an experienced ‘End to End Payroll Clerk’ to join our Payroll team based at our Sedgefield practice. Working in a fast-paced demanding environment, the candidate will work alongside a team of 3 to process client payrolls weekly, fortnightly, four weekly and monthly using Bright Pay.

We are looking for a Payroll Clerk who has payroll processing experience, knowledge of RTI/ Auto Enrolment and who has preferably worked within a practice/ payroll bureau.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing up to 600 client payrolls end to end
  • First point of contact for client queries and amendments
  • Resolving Payroll queries
  • Processing and distributing P60s
  • Issuing payslips and P45’s
  • Collating and processing overtime hours
  • Assisting with weekly and monthly pension submissions
  • Completing general administrative duties to assist the Payroll team
  • Calculating statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay and CIS calculations
  • Knowledge of furlough payments
  • Holiday pay calculations
  • Processing year end

Requirements:

  • A minimum of at least 2 years previous payroll or UK accountancy practice/ bureau experience
  • The ability to problem solve in a fast pace environment
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to meet multiple deadlines in a demanding environment
  • The initiative to work on your own as well as part of a wider team
  • A comprehensive knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Experience using the software Bright Pay and knowledge of Sage
